Substance Use/Abuse
A large number of patients who receive care at or through Quan Yin Healing Arts Center are active substance users or have a significant drug and alcohol history. Patients are frequently referred to this clinic for acupuncture for chemical dependency treatment through other medical or social services. Friends or family members often refer, and some people self refer, seeking care for other health conditions concurrently such as HIV, hepatitis C, depression, anxiety, asthma and diabetes.
Recovery Support
Quan Yin Healing Arts Center offers a range of options for people seeking treatment. The goal of a successful interaction is to maintain a learning and open-minded posture. By drawing on the aspects of harm reduction, recovery readiness, and treatment approaches that create a step toward change model, we have the opportunity to have a greater impact than if we are limited to a clean and sober model.
The model at Quan Yin Healing Arts Center Healing Arts strives to meet the patient where they are at, from those who are actively using to those who have embraced a clean and sober lifestyle. Patients are encouraged to enter into individual therapy or counseling or to seek out support groups specifically for substance using abusing-issues.
Strengthening and Balancing Health, Step by Step By utilizing a step toward change model, we can:
- Work cooperatively with the individual to set his/her own priorities and timelines for action, rather than assume a hierarchy of issues to be dealt with:
- Increase receptivity aimed at support for lifestyle changes and reduced substance use:
- Operate without requiring individuals to take on any particular identity such as alcoholic, drug or sex addict:
- Encourage and support effective alcohol and other drug related interventions integrated into the provision of health and social services:
- Assist people in making life-affirming changes that empower individuals to take further steps toward positive transformation.
